Taipei, Taiwan, March 1, 1998--Integrated Technology Express, Inc. (ITE) today announced a new series of advanced Super I/O products. This comes after the company’s impressive 1996 sales records and the shipment of 16.8 million pieces of Super I/O controllers around the world--approximately 25% of global Super I/O market share. The exciting release of the advanced Super I/O series was considered another ambitious move by ITE toward strengthening its leadership in the ever-competitive Super I/O market.

IT8671: This Super I/O includes keyboard controller (KBC), and supports keyboard and mouse power up. The PC can be powered up by striking the keyboard or clicking the mouse when the PC is at an OFF state. In addition to these user-friendly and security features, the IT8671 is the only Super I/O with value-added functions packed in a 100-pin QFP package.

IT8690: In addition to all the functions of the IT8671, the IT8690 features the advanced Environment controller (EC). The EC monitors 3 sets of thermal controllers, 3 sets of fan speed controllers, seven sets of voltage and card open detections. The controller enables users to set three different temperature ranges to monitor the speed of the three cooling devices. The cooling devices shut down automatically in regular temperature conditions, and reduce the noise volume. The speed of the cooling devices will be increased when the temperature is too high. The IT8690 is the only Super I/O that integrates the features of legacy Super I/O and an EC in a compact 128-pin package.

IT8692: In addition to all the functions in IT8690, the IT8692 adds the advanced Smart Card (SC) Reader controller. The device features a PC/SC and ISO 7816 compliant SC Reader. The SC Reader controller offers the functions of SC detection and power-up. The IT8690 and IT8692 are pin-to-pin compatible, allowing easy upgrades for customers.
