Taipei, Taiwan, January, 1 1998--Integrated Technology Express, Inc. (ITE) recently announced it is determined to provide total high quality H/W and S/W solutions for Windows CE operating system-based platforms.

In addition to ITE’s outstanding achievements in the fields of PC system chips and Super I/O, ITE has recently invested a great sum of R&D manpower and capital in developing "total" solutions for Windows CE-based platforms.

ITE’s active entry into the market of Windows CE-based platforms is a major step for ITE in the area of Windows CE products, and demonstrates its leadership in the area of Windows CE technology.

As the sixth Windows CE System Integrator (SI) chosen by Microsoft worldwide and the first located outside the USA, ITE is dedicated to providing "total" solutions that integrate S/W applications, device drivers and system boards. ITE’s experienced engineers are extremely skilled in system BIOS and device driver development for the Windows 95 and NT environments. ITE’s engineers are also proficient in using Windows CE OAK (OEM Adaptation Kit), to develop device drivers for built-in peripherals and porting OAL (OEM Adaptation Layer) for core peripherals.

In addition to the software solutions, ITE is working with CPU suppliers to develop patented Intelligent Peripheral Controllers (IPCs) for various platform applications. For example, Hitachi chose ITE as a technology partner in the IPC (IT8101E/F) chipset development. The IT8101 is the industry’s first chipset solution for the Windows CE platform and boosts the performance of the 2^nd generation Handheld PCs. Subsequent IPC developments include the IPC for Sub sub-notebook platforms. The PCMCIA Buffer Chip (Code Name: Snow Ball) is specifically designed for the Philips CPU.
