About ITE’s Windows® CE System Integrator

Complete Solutions

To facilitate the integration of Windows® CE, ITE has two business product lines: the Mobile Product Line and the System Integrator (SI). The SI designs and develops solutions for software applications, device drivers, and system boards. The Mobile Product Line designs and develops solutions for peripheral controller ICs.

Microsoft® recognized ITE’s valuable contribution to the development of Windows® CE and elected us as one of the first System Integrators. We were also the first to achieve this status outside the USA. Furthermore, ITE is a Microsoft® authorized Windows® CE Distributor, which allows us to sell Windows® CE OSs directly to our customers.

Engineering

ITE engineers in the SI have tremendous knowledge of system BIOS and device driver development in the Windows 95 and NT environments. This knowledge allows them to easily adapt Windows® CE OAK (OEM Adaptation Kit) to develop device drivers for built-in peripherals and port OAL (OEM Adaptation Layer) for core peripherals. ITE’s engineers in the Mobile Product Line have extensive expertise in core logic chipset and peripheral controller IC development for RISC and CISC microprocessors. In addition, the Mobile engineers are skilled with ITE’s proven, numerous, seasoned, low power, modularized mega cells library designs accumulated over the years. The expertise and knowledge of both the SI and Mobile engineers is key to the quick turn-around "mass customization" we can offer our CE customers based to their ASIC and ASSP specifications.

Products and Services

ITE’s broad variety of products and services enable our customers to optimize the "time-to-market" for their products. ITE’s products and services include standard platforms, reference platforms, training courses and design consulting.

Standard Platforms

ITE offers flexible and modularized evaluation systems for OEMs, IHVs, and ISVs, to perform Windows® CE hardware and software system evaluation. The flexibility and modularity of these systems enables developers to easily port the Windows® CE kernel to develop device drivers and software applications, demonstrate the look and feel of the final product and provide some of the electrical measurements and performance analysis.

Reference Platforms

ITE offers the final design reference platform for OEMs to develop their target platform. This reference platform includes the final development of hardware and software customized and optimized according to OEM specifications and ready for manufacturing.

Training Courses

ITE provides several training courses with different levels and concentrations. There are courses in "Windows® CE introduction," "Hardware Application and Driver Design with Windows® CE SDK/DDK," and "Porting Windows® CE platform with OAK." In addition, courses cover hardware and software design guidelines and other issues OEMs need to know to build Windows® CE compliant platforms.

Design Consulting

A part from the training courses given to the general public, ITE also offers individual consulting to OEMs for specific platform design. These private consulting projects allow ITE experts to consult OEMs about product feasibility, design procedure, design reference, project approval, and other hardware/software and platform related issues.

Strategic Partnerships

Because of the diversity of Windows® CE vertical applications, ITE believes cooperation among Windows® CE semiconductor vendors and system integrators, who all place different emphasis or expertise on microprocessors, ICs and hardware/software development is necessary for the optimal success of Windows® CE platforms. Therefore, ITE welcomes the opportunity to work with others to supplement industry shortcomings and provide quick and responsive solutions for OEMs, who are key to the popularity of Windows® CE platforms.

Talk to ITE

We encourage OEMs to talk to us and learn more about what Windows® CE can do to improve their product’s features, performance and cost-effectiveness. By talking to OEMs during their conceptual stage, we can help guide them in selecting the most suitable and cost-effective hardware and software for their applications through feasibility and analysis stages. We can also advise OEMs on how to differentiate their target platform from others, have their project approved by Microsoft and obtain a Windows® CE license.
